A good two weeks after the election to the Berlin House of Representatives, the announced exploratory talks began on Monday in a three-way format. The negotiators of the Social Democrats, the Greens and the FDP met in the SPD regional office. Around five hours were allotted to discuss the formation of a government. A meeting of the SPD, the Greens and the Left will follow on Tuesday - the three parties have governed together since 2016.
Berlin - The SPD state chairman and mayor-designate Franziska Giffey announced on Friday that, after numerous bilateral talks, her party now wants to continue exploring the two three-way formats.
At the same time, she had made it clear that she had a preference for a traffic light coalition with the Greens and the FDP.
The Greens, on the other hand, are in favor of a continuation of the previous three-party coalition with the SPD and the Left.
