The virologist Sandra Ciesek has been awarded a “Loewe” top professorship at Frankfurt's Goethe University by the State of Hesse. The scientist will receive funding of 1.4 million euros for material and personnel costs over a period of five years, as the Ministry of Science announced in Wiesbaden on Monday. Among other things, a professorship will be financed at her institute, which will then be funded by the Willy Robert Pitzer Foundation for a further five years.
Frankfurt - With her socially highly relevant expertise in the field of virology, in particular on Sars-CoV-2 and Covid-19, Ciesek optimally complements the research focus of the Goethe University in Frankfurt and contributes to the international visibility of the university, said Minister of Science Angela Dorn ( Green).
One of the goals of the Loewe professorships introduced last year is to create attractive conditions to keep successful scientists in Hesse or to bring them to Hesse.
