Kaufbeuren - The two new bells from Neunkirchen in Baden recently reached Kaufbeuren and were placed by the Technical Relief Organization (THW) directly in front of the portal of the Protestant church. Accompanied by a small delegation from the town chapel, Pastor Alexander Röhm welcomed the two imposing bells for the tower of the Kaufbeur Trinity Church at 3 p.m.

It was four years ago when Alexander Röhm took over the position of the managing pastor of the Evangelical Trinity Church in Kaufbeuren. When inspecting his new workplace, Pastor Röhm pointed out that in addition to the three existing ones, there was still space for another bell in the bell cage. According to the bells enthusiastic pastor, that was the impetus for the renewal of the bell cage and the addition of a fourth bell.

When examining the existing bells and the bell cage, the bell expert from the regional church Walter Erdt found that a bell would have a negative impact on the sound in combination and that the steel version of the bell cage would have to be replaced with a wooden version. According to Röhm, the cost of such an extensive renovation would be around 80,000 euros. The amount would then be covered by the replacement of the bell that is no longer quite coherent, the extension to four bells, the replacement of the bell cage and the renovation of the tower. A great challenge that the congregation and the council together with the church leadership have set on the path and which will now be completed this autumn.

In his welcoming address, Pastor Röhm thanked the donors of the bells, the Dobler company for the temporary suspension of the bells in the rear part of the church and the THW for the transport of the approx. 700 kg heavy works of art from the outside area to the rear part of the church in which they were were hung up the same day.

During the sound demonstration that followed, the bell expert Walter Erdt struck the two bells with a wooden beam in such a way that they made the entire church sound impressive.

If you are interested, they can still be viewed for 14 days before the assembly work for their final position in the tower begins.

According to Röhm, the blessing and the first ringing of the bells and the new bell chair are planned for the 1st Advent.
