A day after a meeting of US and Taliban representatives in Doha, Islamic zealots claim that the Biden government has approved humanitarian aid to Afghanistan • These are the first talks since the dark withdrawal in August • US Secretary of State: "Honest talks"

According to the Taliban, Washington has pledged to provide humanitarian aid in light of the difficult economic situation that has only worsened since the fall of (former) President Ashraf Ghani's local government and the organization's quick takeover of the country.

Despite the "honest and professional talks," as defined in an official statement by U.S. Secretary of State Ned Price last night, they insisted that this did not constitute recognition of the sovereignty of the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan."

"The parties have also discussed a wide range of humanitarian aid, directly to the Afghan people," Price said, reiterating the mantra that "the Taliban will be judged on their actions and not just on speech."

The Taliban, for its part, noted that "the talks went well."

As mentioned, this is the first time the parties have officially met since the US and NATO countries unilaterally withdrew from Afghanistan after a 20-year military sojourn.

The last days leading up to his departure have been difficult and have claimed 182 lives, including 13 U.S. Marines and 169 civilians following a suicide bombing by the Islamic State Khorasan province, an act that marked the future: an internal bloody conflict between ISIS and the Taliban.

During Friday prayers, 55 civilians were massacred at a Shiite mosque in the town of Kunduz after an Islamic State suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt and exploded at the scene.

"We assure our Shiite brethren that in the future we will provide them with more security for them and that such problems will not happen again," said Mulawi Ghost Muhammad, who is in charge of security in the province.
