Gary Lineker is undoubtedly considered one of the greatest pioneers in Europe ever and of course in his native England.
The man who starred in Barcelona in the late 80s and scored 48 goals in 80 appearances for the Three Lions team, caused a big storm on Twitter today (Monday), precisely after he wanted to praise Lionel Messi.
Lineker posted a tweet in which he praised Flea so much that tonight in the game between Argentina and Uruguay he became the first South American player to reach 80 international goals while on the way he points out the fact that the South American home is probably the toughest of all major teams around the world in World Cup qualifiers.

This tweet led to angry reactions from fans of Cristiano Ronaldo who claimed that Lineker was wrong and always preferred Messi over the Portuguese phenomenon.
In response, Lineker tweeted again that Ronaldo scored a lot of goals against weak teams when, among other things, he put Israel on the same list along with weak teams like the Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein and more.
This tweet led to amusing and angry reactions from Israeli fans when it seems that the tweet war will continue in the coming hours.
Last night Messi became the first South American player to score 80 international goals.
An astonishing achievement, especially given that the level of opposition in qualifying games is significantly tougher than on any other continent.
