Füssen / District - A small group of participants met on Friday for the opening of the “Regional Climate Action Weeks” on the Auwaldwiese near the forest experience center (WEZ) Füssen-Ziegelwies.

Until October 17th, the organizers of a total of 120 events in the Ostallgäu district and in Kaufbeuren are pursuing the goal of attracting as many people as possible to help them contribute to climate protection.

Pronouncing bans is the wrong way to more climate protection, emphasized forest director Stephan Kleiner at the beginning of the ceremony in the open air in the morning.

The division manager at the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (AELF) Kaufbeuren emphasized: “Visits to the forest are healthy and free.

Visitors can have positive experiences.

We want to get people excited about climate protection. "

Kleiner also gave the tip to visit the treetop path at the forest experience center (WEZ) in order to have exclusive views from a new perspective at a height of 21 meters in the border area of Bavaria and Austria.

The - as he calls himself - head forester thanked the WEZ team for their commitment to their tasks and in particular for their exemplary commitment during this kick-off event.

Nicola Lechner and Emily Pauls were named, who also addressed the audience themselves.

Churches are there

After the welcome - Wolfgang Seidler from Kempten started as coordinator - there was a lecture on the topic of “climate justice” and - very practically - the planting of a tree. Seidler, who had also introduced himself as secretary of the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB) with an office in Kempten, told the district messenger that he would step in with his own lecture in Buchloe because the speaker from Berlin had canceled at short notice. He pointed out the free program brochure. The publisher is the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment. "You can currently find out more on our homepage on the Internet."

Seidler also stated: "Church congregations and parish communities are well represented in the program of the ten days of action on climate change, sustainability and energy with events." The brochure highlights the "Calculate ecological footprint" campaign.

Every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors to the WEZ wooden pavilion in Tiroler Straße 10 can answer the question “How climate-friendly do I behave?”.
