Between the neighborhoods of the Kafr Batna area in Eastern Ghouta, Wafaa Al-Ajouri moves within a mobile team for several hours in order to reach the largest possible number of children under five and immunize them against polio.
The Kafr Batna team is one of 400 mobile teams in Damascus countryside participating in the second national polio vaccination campaign for 2021, which was launched by the Ministry of Health last Sunday and will continue until next Thursday.
Al-Ajouri explained to SANA that the mobile team is coming from the Jaramana East Center for Child Vaccination in Kafr Batna, according to a well-studied plan that guarantees access to all neighborhoods and streets of the area, noting that the vaccine is stored in special folders equipped with a temperature sensor that is constantly monitored.
The campaign in the Kafr Batna area targets more than 3,200 children through a fixed health point and a mobile team trained and equipped with all vaccine equipment and supplies, according to the Harasta Health District Vaccine Officer, Najla Al-Khatib, who indicated that the Harasta area in general includes 14
A fixed health center and 11 health points in addition to mobile teams, and the target number is about 53.6 thousand children under five years old.
The responsible for vaccination operations in Damascus countryside, Hana Muhammad, pointed out the role of mobile teams to immunize children, especially in areas where there are no health centers, indicating that the campaign targets more than 332,000 children in Damascus countryside through 145 health centers and 400 mobile teams, with the participation of 1471 health personnel.
