Weßling - Creativity and fresh air for children in times of lockdown: With this aim, the cultural group of the Neighborhood Aid (NBH) launched the hands-on campaign for children at the beginning of the year. The makers of the three most beautiful works have now been awarded in Weßling. Under the direction of Ulrike Roos, who supported Bärbel Dähne-Külzer, the volunteers have come up with a new motif every month since January. The adolescents should stage this creatively. If necessary, the participants could pick up painting and handicraft material in the Seehäusel of the neighborhood help and later display their work of art in the showcases in front of the Amsel Café, the parquet shop and Hofart.

Nature was the inspiration for the themes. The young artists should paint butterflies, spring flowers or birds in winter. Katharina Meier (12) won first prize with her “Fish under the Ice”. She used watercolors to paint an ice skate on the frozen Weßlinger See, whose runners are curiously looking at two fish under the layer of ice.

The twelve-year-old is already an experienced painter. “I like to sketch animals with pencil or charcoal,” she reveals. Her dog Bella, who commented on the award ceremony here and there with a barker, was also a model for her. Linus Zander (10) is practically an occasional artist and discovered the campaign on one of the flyers displayed. He and his friend Tamino Weißthanner each built an Easter basket out of paper - and promptly received second prize for their “Easter decoration”.

Lina (4) and her sister Emmy Konietschke (6) also made it onto the podium for their interpretation of “What I'm looking forward to ...”. The four-year-old painted the sun, a blossom, the rain, a butterfly and a snail in the picture. Speaking of being happy about something: "I'm only happy about the one with a house", the little one corrected to be on the safe side. In the picture she had placed her own likeness with a huge smiley mouth next to a rainbow. Mother Tessy Grabo-Konietschke explained that: "When it rains and the sun shines, we run out immediately and look for the rainbow."

The lucky winners received a book voucher and a voucher for a cocoa or something similar in the Amselcafé.

How many had participated in total, Roos did not know because many would not have revealed themselves.

Neighborhood aid chairwoman Julia Hager and colleague Cornelia Harms were also beaming and happy about the successful campaign on this wonderful autumn day, which has now officially ended.

After all, it is again possible for interested parties to meet three times a month in the Seehäusel to paint and do handicrafts - in person.

What Roos was particularly pleased about: “In the beginning, practically only asylum seekers participated.

Meanwhile, many Weßlingers of all generations also come. "
