GAP - The federal police recently stopped a suspected smuggler on the B2 near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The Albanian national transported seven compatriots who, although they had the necessary entry documents, had a re-entry ban for Germany.
In the early evening hours, the officials stopped a minibus with an Albanian registration on the main road between Mittenwald and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The 39-year-old driver was able to properly identify himself. His seven passengers also had valid documents with them. When checking their personal details, however, the federal police found that their asylum applications in Germany had been rejected and that they had been deported to their home country in 2020. As a result, the Albanians were banned from entering and staying in the country for two and a half years. Nevertheless, they tried to get back to Germany.
The federal police reported the Albanian nationals because of their illegal entry attempt.
After completing the police measures, they had to leave the country again.
The driver is being investigated for smuggling in foreigners.
The 39-year-old had to deposit 500 euros to secure the criminal proceedings before he was allowed to travel on.
