A second “house for children” will be built in Kirchheim from summer 2022.
The plans have now been presented to the local council.
Cost point: a good 20 million euros.

- In the summer of 2022, construction will begin on the “House for Children II” on Martin-Luther-Strasse in Kirchheim.
A good two years later, 200 children in eight after-school care groups, 42 children in three diagnostic support groups and up to 14 people are to move into the seven apartments on the upper floor.
Fabian Setzermann, deputy project manager at HSP Projektmanagement GmbH, explained the details to the local council: In the basement there is an underground car park with 55 parking spaces, “that is significantly more than the need for this building, but we assume that the employees of the adjoining primary school as well as the staff and visitors of the support groups will occupy the parking spaces, ”explained social affairs officer Raphael Tränkle. Also in the basement there is a large space for after-school care and support groups as well as technical and work rooms that can also be used by the neighboring primary school. According to Setzermann, there is a “clear and separate access situation” on the ground floor for the after-school care center, diagnostic support class, kitchen, cafeteria, living room and underground car park. The garage at the elementary school gym is being demolishedthere are storage areas for scooters and bicycles. The main lounges are oriented to the south and west, the play areas and terrace will be in the south, and all levels will be barrier-free.
Solid construction with rear-ventilated wooden facade
On the upper floor are the eight after-school facilities and, in a separate wing, two four-room apartments, four apartments with two rooms and one apartment with one room.
Setzermann reported that a PV system was being built over the entire roof area and that the roof was being completely greened.
“The house is a solid construction with a ventilated wooden facade.
The sun protection is provided by vertical wooden slats, in addition to the mechanical ventilation system, the large window sashes are used for ventilation. "
Mayor Maximilian Böltl (CSU) explained why the community is building a second house for children at all.
"At the moment we have distributed and outsourced our after-school children to several buildings, then they will all be together." There are also three support classes that are currently housed in the Silva elementary school and in Feldkirchen.
"By bringing them together there, we have brought the district on board, which will pay 2.5 million euros," said Böltl.
6.9 million grants
The house is intended for children between eight and eleven years from grades one to four.
According to Setzermann, the municipality's first estimate of its own costs was 14.2 million euros, “now we are at 13.7 million euros, which the municipality will probably have to pay itself”.
6.9 million euros will be funded accordingly.
Franz Graf (CSU) was enthusiastic about the designs: “It will be really great.
But are the large windows shatterproof when the children play ball? ”Setzermann reassured that there are special standards for such window fronts.
Michaela Harlander (SPD) wanted to know whether the ventilation systems meet the Corona requirements.
Here, too, Setzermann was able to calm down, ventilation, large windows for ventilation and special night ventilation meet all requirements.
Stephan Keck (SPD) asked that the house should not be finished until June 2024, but if possible in May 2024, "because it is right at the state horticultural show".
