District

- The district SPD wants to react to the difficult financial situation of the district with an alternative route.

The comrades propose the introduction of a municipal loan.

Citizens could invest in these.

Requirement: The deposits may only be invested for a specific purpose in the areas of climate protection and education.

The SPD now applies for the District Office to examine the proposal promptly, if necessary with the help of external expertise.

Cooperation with a bank or a consortium is required.

The financial and technical complexity should not be underestimated.

The city of Munich has currently issued a bond with a term until 2032 primarily to promote residential construction with a fixed return of 0.25 percent, according to the SPD.

The plan: Fixed return for sustainable, social investment

In support of their application, the comrades emphasize: In order to even come close to achieving the goals of the energy transition by 2030, "high investments are already inevitable".

At the same time, it makes sense to resolutely tackle voluntary services in the field of education, such as the new construction of the planned vocational school.

For the financing, but also the involvement of the district population, the municipal bond is an effective instrument and offers citizens the opportunity to invest their capital sustainably and socially.

"Especially in areas with an open and above-average well-off citizenship, it will meet with interest, especially in a phase of strong limits for investments due to a sustained zero interest rate policy," said the SPD.
