The Islamic Ahmadiyya community is allowed to build its mosque in Leipzig.
The approval had already been granted in mid-September, as the city of Leipzig announced on request.
However, the building authority has not yet been notified of a specific date for the start of construction.
The “Leipziger Volkszeitung” had previously reported on it.

The building is one of the first Islamic places of worship in East Germany outside of Berlin.
After the plans were announced, there were repeated violent protests.
For example, bloody pig heads were impaled on the property.

Unknown people probably damaged two window panes on Thursday night at the constituency office of the Left MP Kerstin Eisenreich in Merseburg (Saalekreis).
The police confirmed that there were marks on the windows, and one window pane was even destroyed.
The property is also operated as the party's regional office in Merseburg.

The Ahmadiyya community, which is represented worldwide, is considered to be willing to integrate and peace-loving, but also to be conservative in terms of values.
The members describe themselves as open and reformist, but strictly adhere to the rules of the Koran.
