The Fifth Conference of Syrian Doctors, organized by the Syrian Medical Syndicate at the Sheraton Aleppo Hotel, continued its activities for the second day in a row, as its sessions focused on cardiac and ophthalmic diseases and their surgery, digestive diseases and a laboratory session.
Dr. Kamal Amer, head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, told SANA reporter that Aleppo was chosen to hold the conference after recovering from terrorism and returning to life with the process of reconstruction, to be a beacon for conferences and a launch for the rest of the governorates for the coming years to hold medical conferences there, noting the importance of the lectures that took place during the sessions, which touched on the latest topics he addressed. Dr. Zaher Batal, the general supervisor of the conference, explained the importance of the skills and experiences that doctors acquire during scientific and practical dialogue sessions and lectures that are given by specialized doctors.
In the session devoted to ophthalmic surgery, Dr. Obeida Al-Mufti, Director General of the Eye Hospital in Aleppo, talked about the stages of corneal transplantation, through a live video broadcast on the Internet, with a doctor in England, and about the amniotic membrane of the eye, eye trauma and retinal detachment, while Dr. Anas Al-Anbari, who came from England, talked about a type of eye surgery. Advanced corneal transplantation with an explanation of how to implant multi-injection lenses.
Dr. Noha Al-Fayoumi, a glaucoma specialist from the Physicians Syndicate branch, talked about the solutions provided to reduce eye pressure or damage the optic nerve.
In the session devoted to heart diseases and their surgery, Dr. Khaled Haider, Director of the Heart Surgery Center in Aleppo, stated that the session included six topics, including three lectures on heart tumors, aortic dissections and water cysts in the heart.
Dr. Osama Qashkash talked about the impact of corona on heart patients and the measures taken to protect them from infection with the virus and to follow modern methods of treating them.
In the digestive diseases session, Dr. Rabab Omran, a gastroenterologist from the Tartous Medical Syndicate branch, and Dr. Nabil Antaki from the Aleppo branch of doctors, talked about inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, clinical symptoms, laboratory, endoscopic and radiological manifestations of inflammatory Crohn’s disease, modern surgical treatments and indications, in addition to endoscopy of the biliary tract and complications caused and how to treat it.
