The statutory health insurances in Thuringia found around 70 treatment errors by doctors with health problems for the patients last year.
The medical service of the health insurance announced on Tuesday that almost a quarter of the total of 299 complaints from patients or relatives were recognized.
Most recognized errors occurred in surgical and orthopedic procedures.

In the pre-Corona year 2019, the Medical Service Thuringia reportedly followed up with 318 suspected medical errors.
In almost a third of the cases (104), an error with a health damage for the patient was recognized at that time.

A prerequisite for claims for compensation, however, is a "causality" between the treatment error and the damage that has occurred.
Only in 61 cases (20.4 percent) could treatment errors also be proven as a cause of damage to health in the past year.
