We all know what this shoe is, right? However, its name varies in Latin countries. From flip flops to slippers, the shape varies by region.


In many ways this footwear is called in Latin America.

How is it in your country?

Latin America is diverse in many ways.

We can find all kinds of climates, landscapes, foods, customs.

And, although many countries in the region have the Spanish language in common, we are also diverse in that.

Not only do we have different accents, but even the same words change their meaning depending on the country where they are said.

Let's take an example.

We all know what it is, right?

We have dressed them for a quiet day at home, to go shopping on the street, as an outfit for any given Sunday and for a beach vacation.

Let's be honest: although some consider it a horror to wear them with stockings, many people in the region use them that way for comfort, for being cold on the feet or simply for pleasure.

We received many responses from all over Latin America about the name of this shoe.

There were even responses from Spain and Japan.

And not only did messages arrive on Twitter, but also on Facebook and Instagram.

The variety of words is wide and some of the names are spoken only in certain parts of the country.

(That's right: even within individual countries the meaning changes.)

There is a difference with Sandals, these are the ones that have bras behind the ankle and on the instep.
