Makeshift containers are intended to ease the situation - until the new children's home by the swimming pool goes into operation in 2024.

Oberschleißheim

- Containers are supposed to cover the childcare needs in Oberschleißheim.

A new children's house is planned on the green spaces behind the swimming pool by 2024.

Until that happens, the church makes do with an interim solution.

The containers are to be set up on the property of the former day care center in the Augustinum Curative Education Center next to the indoor swimming pool.

An exact date could not be learned from the town hall.

Building authority manager Christiane Kmoch said she was confident that parents, who sometimes desperately hope for a place for their child, can at least offer care in a container for the interval that begins next autumn.

At the same time, preparations are underway for a new children's house at the indoor swimming pool, which the parliamentary groups agreed on in the spring.

The day care center will accommodate six groups.

The modular construction of the children's home allows an extension if necessary.

The football field and skating facility will have to give way

A population forecast for Schleissheim published in the summer made both the town hall and the parliamentary groups aware of the seriousness of the situation.

Accordingly, only every second application for a daycare place should be successful in 2021/22.

The situation at kindergartens is only slightly more relaxed.

The new children's house at the indoor pool should provide a remedy.

The location, however, is not ideal.

The soccer field behind the indoor pool and the skating facility will have to give way to the containers.

Space is tight.

The town hall feels compelled to act.
