Customs has seized two canine teeth of a baboon at Hanover Airport.
As the customs announced on Tuesday, the ten centimeter long teeth were found on Wednesday a week ago in the luggage of a 63-year-old during a routine X-ray check.
The man from Cremlingen (Wolfenbüttel district) had previously traveled from Windhoek (Namibia) via Frankfurt to Hanover.
Hanover - He had his luggage forwarded to him.
Both teeth are protected by the Washington Convention on the Protection of Species and may only be imported with a corresponding permit.
The traveler does not have such a permit.
The Federal Agency for Nature Conservation is now assessing whether and what punishment the man will face.
