Members of the Lebanese Civil Defense put out a large fire that ravaged large areas of olive trees in the vineyards of the town of Mashha, known as the “Al-Areed” area, and approached civilian homes in Akkar, northern Lebanon.
The National News Agency stated, "The elements of the civil defense worked to cordon off the fire, control it and put it out before it spread to homes and to neighboring and wooded lands, and they are now working to cool the place of the fire for fear of igniting it again."
Elements of the Civil Defense also worked to put out a fire that broke out in the dry grasslands in the outskirts of the town of Karum Arab in Akkar and spread to the neighboring lands and orchards and came to a number of fruitful trees. The elements are also working to cool the site.
Yesterday, the Lebanese army helicopters, in cooperation with the Civil Defense elements, managed to control the fires that erupted in the forests of the towns of Bazal, Habshit and Ain al-Dhahab in Akkar, north Lebanon, for two consecutive days.
