In the Rondorf district of Cologne, five bomb blind men from the Second World War were found on Tuesday morning.
Because of the defusing work, the A4 motorway had to be blocked from the Cologne-West junction in the direction of Olpe and from Cologne-Cologne South in the direction of Aachen, as the city of Cologne announced.
Cologne - Because of the large number of bombs, the duration of the defusing cannot be estimated, the city emphasized.
The British and American bombs had been found during exploratory work.
Since the site was not in a densely populated area, only a few people had to be evacuated.
