Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen: "Iran is far from developing a nuclear bomb" Israel today

After Prime Minister Bennett addressed the nuclear issue and said that "Israel will not wait," Yossi Cohen estimated: "Iran is more isolated than it was at the time of concluding the agreement with the superpowers."

Contrary to the report that Iran has a sufficient amount of material to complete the production of a nuclear warhead, and despite reports that Tehran holds more than 120 kg of enriched uranium at a rate of 20%, former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen claimed today (Tuesday) that Tehran "Still far from developing a military nuclear bomb."

Cohen made the remarks at the Jerusalem Post conference in Jerusalem.

He estimated that at present, "Iran is more isolated than it was at the time of the formation of the nuclear agreement with the superpowers."

In his opening remarks at the conference, Cohen said: "Strange things have happened in Iran, and I can not comment on them. As for the things that are happening today, I have a different opinion. I think at the end of the day Iran is not close to any nuclear weapons. "We have always done well. Israel will always defend itself. If Iran ultimately chooses the wrong path, Israel will have to respond."

The former Mossad chief added: "I think they have less support for what they are doing than in the past. We will need to develop capabilities that will allow us to be independent in order to do what Israel has done in the past in Iraq and Syria. I think the nuclear deal must be completely reformulated And not just on one issue. "

Bennett: "Hopefully the world will hold the Iranians accountable"

Earlier today, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also addressed the Iranian issue at the conference.

"I have spoken with a number of leaders - President Biden, Chancellor Merkel and others," he told the conference.

"Iran is fulfilling its obligations under the nuclear deal. We will not wait, and I hope the world will hold them accountable. I will deal with that in the coming months."

The prime minister's remarks came two days after Iran's chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency, Muhammad Islami, told IRNA that there had been a significant development on the road to a nuclear bomb.

Last month, the New York Times published a report to the International Atomic Energy Agency saying that Iran was weeks away from bomb production. At the same time, US officials said Tehran would complete the process within a few months.
