The Ministry of Construction and Housing is currently working on advancing a government decision in which the population of the Golan Heights Regional Council and the city of Katzrin will be doubled, so that by 2026 an additional 7,000 housing units will be marketed in the area.

Meanwhile, in the Golan there are reports of a queue of about 1,500 families for occupancy without construction plans.

Today, the Golan Heights Regional Council has about 4,200 households, and the Katzrin local council has about 3,000.

According to the plan, about 4,000 housing units will be marketed in the coming years in the rural localities in the Golan Regional Council, and the Golan Heights population in the rural localities will be doubled to 8,400 households - in order to strengthen and develop the existing localities in the area.

It should be emphasized that as part of the decision, the Ministry of Construction and Housing promotes a basket of supportive benefits for populations in localities where new housing units will be marketed, such as infrastructure restoration in the old locality, budget for construction, renovation and expansion of public institutions and more.

In addition, the ministry will offer community support to the locality and will assist in planning in order to accelerate marketing in the area.

The total budget allocated for the purpose of the plan in question will be determined at the end of a coordination procedure between government ministries.

Katzrin: 3,000 new housing units 

At the same time, the Katzrin local council is on its way to 6,000 households.

The ministry is promoting the development of the Golan capital and is working on preparing a government decision in which the Katzrin population will be doubled and an additional 3,000 housing units will be marketed in the next four years.

In addition, according to the plan, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and other government ministries will provide budgets for the development and promotion of the local council.
