Because of Corona, the Hummler fire brigade came together again for the first time after a long break.

There was a lot to talk about.

Hummel

- After a long break, a regular general meeting of the volunteer fire brigade Ober- and Niederhummel took place again - for the first time in the training room on the upper floor of the tool shed.

Langenbach's mayor Susanne Hoyer and honorary commander Georg Köppl were there.

You were welcomed by the chairman, Martin Wildgruber, together with district fire chief Johannes Neumair and the long-time military instructor, Christian Fuß.

Honors will be made up for

He first reported that the board had been struggling for a long time as to whether the event could really take place. As a sufficiently large room was available and the intention was to strictly observe the application of the 3G rule, the appointment was finally set. In return, pending honors and promotions were waived. According to Wildgruber, they do not want to “throw away” a certificate because of the hygiene rules in force, but will make up for the award as soon as possible.

The report by Secretary Johannes Herold was extensive. Since the last two meetings could not take place, his remarks included all club activities from 2019 and 2020 as well as until October 2nd of this year. The traditional events, as far as they could still be held, were mentioned in it, as was participation in the 100th anniversary of the SG Niederhummel and the FFW Attaching in the summer of 2019. It was inevitably quieter in 2020 and 2021. Nevertheless, the club life did not come entirely to a standstill, as you could attend some events between lockdowns.

Treasurer Andreas Hölldobler had good news: Despite many unusual events such as the lantern festival or the Christmas tree auction, the association is still on a solid financial basis.

A stark contrast

In the technical report by Commander Josef Kratzer, the activities of the active members from 2019 and 2020 were mentioned.

There was a huge difference here: While in 2019 3892 hours of exercises, training, missions and other things had been completed, the number fell to 1302 in the Corona year 2020.

In addition to the pandemic, part of the decline is also due to the fact that in January 2019 they worked for days during the snow disaster in the Traunstein district.

The extent to which practice and training will remain restricted in the future is currently still open.

Expensive equipment

At the end of his remarks, Kratzer mentioned a few planned actions. One of the things that is important to him is the renewal of the breathing apparatus, as the production of spare parts for them has been discontinued. "The community is facing a not inconsiderable financial burden," he warned the town hall chief.

The report by youth warden Florian Kratzer was short and sweet, but rich in content. He told of the successful participation in the national competition of the youth fire brigades in Erding, where one was supported by young people from the FFW Thonstetten. The anniversary “20 years of the youth fire brigade” planned for 2020 had to be canceled - whether and when it could be made up for remains open. For this, the knowledge test, which should actually take place in December 2020, was able to be carried out in June this year. A total of seven fire brigade candidates have been taken into active service since 2019, and eleven boys and girls are currently involved in the youth group through numerous newcomers.

In her greetings, Susanne Hoyer expressed her gratitude to all fire service providers. Based on the harvest festival, she emphasized that at the Hummler Wehr you can find a “well-tilled field”. She also mentioned the support for the temporary accommodation of two school classes in the training room of the fire brigade and in the community hall. “You could feel that this house is also a community center,” says Hoyer. They bow before the mission with praise and gratitude.

In the speech by district fire chief Johannes Neumair, the deep connection to the Hummler Wehr could be felt.

He has been with us for decades and likes to take part in an exercise as a simple firefighter every now and then.

He also knows, says Neumair, that online exercises are not the ideal way of training.

He sincerely hopes that we will soon be able to come together again informally to bring life back to the fire service.

Classic cars need space

In the last item on the agenda, “Wishes and Motions”, an old topic came up.

Equipment attendant Josef Neumair, the last remaining member of the "Berta friends" who had taken care of the receipt of the first Hummler fire engine for a few years, applied for a new parking space for the oldtimer.

At the moment it is still in the so-called Berta Hut, which was built in 1999.

But since the accommodation there has long been no longer optimal, Neumair is now looking for a new place to park.

Hoyer promised to sit down with everyone involved to find a good solution.

Before the official end of the event, Chairman Martin Wildgruber informed the group that a final decision had not yet been made on the implementation of the popular Hoagart and the Christmas tree auction for this year.
