Karlsfeld - A mayor who stands at the lectern in the Bürgerhaussaal and speaks, plus sausage salad, wheat beer and brass music for the guests: this is what the citizens' meetings in Karlsfeld usually look like.

But now there was a variant: The first virtual citizens' meeting took place on Monday evening, community chief Stefan Kolbe came to the Karlsfeldern home over the internet, so to speak.

“It's a first,” said Kolbe when he was greeted, “I hope that the technology will hold out.” The technology held out.

Kolbe - with the headset on his head - was in the picture for an hour and a half and was always very easy to understand.

At the end, shortly before his “Pfia God beinand”, Kolbe announced that the first online meeting would not be the last due to the positive experience.

It will take some time, however, until this digital form of the citizens' meeting has really reached the Karlsfelders.

On Monday, 38 listeners joined in - a manageable number.

And then it was as usual: Mayor Stefan Kolbe reported on the latest from Karlsfeld using a very successful, clear online presentation.

The community chief presented a number of interesting figures:

■

Population 21,876 (as of June 30, 2021);

■

238 employees in the municipal administration, 63 of them in the town hall and 70 employees in childcare (Kolbe: "We are constantly advertising, but unfortunately we cannot fill all positions here. The market has been swept empty");

■

1,567 care places in crèches, kindergartens and after-school care centers;

■

Total budget 2021 EUR 62.6 million;

■

The largest source of income is income tax participation with around 18 million euros;

■

Debt level of 30.6 million euros - without the new elementary school on Krenmoosstrasse, which costs around 41 million euros, the debt level would be 4.95 million euros;

 The school building project is an unprecedented financial feat for the community. Of the 41 million euros in total, Karlsfeld has to finance 25.7 million euros himself, 15.3 million come from the state. The six-class school for up to 648 students started operations a few weeks ago. "We can be proud of this wonderful school," said Kolbe, "the feedback from the public has also been consistently positive."

 The mayor is much less happy with the indoor pool, which had to be closed in summer due to extreme water ingress (we reported). An emergency renovation has been going on for a few weeks. It is expected that the pool will be able to reopen at the end of November. The renovation has "gained two to three years of use," said Kolbe. A comprehensive renovation is then pending. Estimated costs: around 11 million euros.

 Kolbe reported on a few other topics, for example the approved parking space concept in the Rathausstrasse area (not yet implemented due to personnel problems, it should start in February at the latest), tram line 20, which may be extended from Moosach via Karlsfeld to Dachau, and the renovation the ailing Würmbrücken on Allacher Straße (completion of the new building at the end of March 2022) and on Eichenweg (decision on the new building postponed).

 Towards the end, Kolbe answered a few questions from the chat participants (see box).

Questions from chat participants

The meeting participants were able to put questions to Mayor Stefan Kolbe using the chat function.

There were only a handful of requests to speak - and only three topics:

• The new elementary school on Krenmoosstrasse has opened and with it the great hard court with sports field and basketball hoops.

It wasn't long before the hard court became a meeting place for young people.

The widely audible tapping of basketballs and sometimes loud music annoyed some residents.

The square was therefore fenced in, and signs read that public use is prohibited after school hours have ended (4.30 p.m.).

"This is a nice hard court that screams for use," said Mayor Kolbe, unfortunately there is noise pollution, sometimes until late in the evening.

He has already met with local residents and they will consider how a compromise solution could look, including in the local council.

"But we can't please everyone."

A young listener answered the subject and said it was annoying that the place was being closed "because a few cannot behave".

• Will the corona tests in Karlsfeld be discontinued? One of the participants wanted to know.

Until the end of the year there will continue to be test offers, assured Kolbe, from Monday to Thursday in the community center, from Friday to Sunday in the Kornelius parish hall.

• What is the church doing about the poser scene? Was a question asked by one participant.

In this case, the community's options are limited.

"We are in contact with the police," said Kolbe.

The Dachau police station is trying to deal with the nuisance - the drivers of high-powered vehicles and motorcyclists, especially at night, cause noise pollution - with the use of civil patrols.

Kolbe referred to the citizens' meeting next Monday in the community center (7 p.m.), then a representative of the PI Dachau will again be a guest who could comment.

Second meeting

Next Monday, October 18, a citizens' meeting will take place in the community center in the usual form of presence.

It starts at 7 p.m.

After the report by Mayor Stefan Kolbe and a report by the representative of the Dachau police station, the audience has the floor.

Because of the corona restrictions, there will be neither music from the Karlsfeld brass band nor hospitality at the gathering.
