According to a survey, Germans consider Norbert Röttgen * most suitable.
32 percent of those surveyed voted for the foreign policy maker as CDU chairman.
In the ranks behind followed the economic politician Friedrich Merz (31 percent) and Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (30 percent).
Health Minister Jens Spahn achieved the same value, but more respondents did not consider him suitable.

The opinion research institute Kantar also determined the mood among the CDU / CSU voters on behalf of the Funke media group.
In their favor, Merz (49 percent approval) ranks higher than Röttgen (46 percent).
41 percent of the Union supporters voted for Spahn and 34 percent for Kretschmer.
Also asked was the opinion of Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther, who received 17 percent approval of all those questioned, and the deputy party leader Silvia Breher, who also landed well behind the leading trio with twelve percent.
Among the CDU / CSU voters, the two received 23 and again twelve percent.
