Miqdad: Syria is keen to help Lebanon overcome the challenges it is going through

Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, and Abdullah Bouhabib, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Lebanon, discussed during their meeting within the framework of the participation of the Syrian Arab Republic in the high-level meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement currently being held in Belgrade, the bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields.

Minister Miqdad expressed Syria's keenness on the welfare and progress of the Lebanese brothers, stressing the provision of possible assistance to overcome the difficulties and challenges that Lebanon experienced during the last period.

In turn, Minister Bouhabib thanked Syria for what it offers to Lebanon, especially with regard to energy resources.

The two ministers also discussed the return of the displaced Syrians to their homeland and homes. Minister Miqdad stressed in this context that Syria welcomes all its people and provides all the necessary facilities to secure a voluntary and dignified return for them, referring in this regard to the decrees and laws that were issued to facilitate that return.

Dr. Al-Miqdad called on international organizations to fulfill their duty towards the Syrian refugees and not to impede their return to their mother country, Syria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Safari Mahdi, and all aspects of cooperation between the two brotherly countries in all political and economic fields were discussed.

The Iranian deputy minister expressed his country's readiness to provide all forms of assistance to Syria and to discuss all matters related to how to overcome obstacles that prevent this.

Minister Miqdad reiterated the importance of Syrian-Iranian relations and the need to strengthen them in all fields.

The two meetings were attended from the Syrian side by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Special Office Department, Dr. Ammar Awad, Chargé d'Affairs on behalf of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Belgrade, and Dean Hamdan from the Syrian Embassy in Belgrade.
