Hamburg / Kiel - According to MD Nord, there were again more gross errors among the new cases that are not understandable from the perspective of the experts.

That affected 75 cases last year.

An example: Doctors wanted to insert a catheter into a cancer patient for an outpatient operation for later chemotherapy.

They used the cannula to puncture the artery instead of the adjacent vein.

This triggered a stroke with arm paralysis and speech and vision disorders.

It is grossly flawed that the practitioners only noticed the incorrect position of the catheter after the stroke.
