Buses will soon travel much faster in some places in Munich.
The administration is gradually implementing the acceleration program.
The city council is expected to decide on further measures this year.
Munich - The city improves bus traffic in Munich.
In other street sections, bus lanes are marked, in other places traffic lights have been optimized or stopping bans have been set up (we reported).
The latter happens on routes that are very narrow so that buses cannot travel in two directions at the same time.
The administration has recently set up a new bus lane in Ampfingstrasse in Berg am Laim.
As early as July, a bus lane was also marked on Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz in the north direction in addition to the two existing lanes.
In addition, bus lanes have already been created in Wendl-Dietrich-Strasse in Neuhausen, Dietlindenstrasse in Schwabing and Allacher Strasse in Moosach.
Expansion program: New bus lanes on Grillparzerstrasse and Einsteinstrasse
Bus lanes are in preparation for Grillparzerstraße between Prinzregentenplatz and Einsteinstraße in the southern direction of travel, as well as for Einsteinstraße in front of the Einstein- / Truderinger Straße junction in the direction of Vogelweideplatz.
Both measures should be implemented this year, depending on the weather.
In addition, traffic lights are being adjusted by the mobility department in order to speed up the buses.
In the past few months, the systems at the intersections Wendl-Dietrich-Strasse / Rotkreuzplatz, Rosenheimer Strasse / Autobahn A8 and Garmischer Strasse / Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz have been optimized.
The administration plans to adjust the traffic lights at Falkenstrasse / Mariahilfplatz and the traffic lights at Isartal- / Lagerhausstrasse in the near future.
It is also planned to propose a further eleven measures to the city council later this year to speed up bus routes in the city.
The projects are to be implemented from 2022.
