This former gendarme and policeman killed himself on September 29 in an apartment in Grau du Roi when he was going to be confused by a DNA test which was to link him to several murders attributed to the serial killer of the 80s and 90s.

In a confession letter found by his wife, François Vérove spoke of
“past impulses”
, acknowledging “
being a great criminal who committed unforgivable acts until the end of the 1990s
”.
The DNA sample was finally taken the day after the 50-year-old died and compared with that found at several crime scenes, proving that the latter was indeed the wanted man for 35 years.
