Hausham - The parish church of St. Agatha in Agatharied has been extensively renovated.

On Thanksgiving, everyone could now marvel at the result.

The newly renovated parish church in Agatharied was consecrated with a pontifical service on Thanksgiving Sunday.

The Agatha songs waited a long time for this day, when the faithful gathered for the service in the festively decorated house of God, which shone in new splendor.

The traditional costume club in festive garb took the front seats - the women in colored bodices and dignified shawls on the left, the men in gray jackets and shorts on the right.

In addition, the volunteer fire brigade and the mountain riflemen, flag departments in the chancel, flowers everywhere and happy anticipation.

Donated by Jörg von Waldeck around 1500

When Auxiliary Bishop Wolfgang Bischof with Dean Michael Mannhardt and the deacons Andreas Marx and Andreas Maier moved into the nave to the sound of Agatharieder brass music, the joy of the successful renovation could be felt to the full.

Work had started on the roof, where after 41 years the shingles also had to be completely replaced on the tower.

Even the gold-plated, almost 100 kilo ball 50 meters above the top of the tower has been restored and put back on.

She is now keeping a letter for posterity, banknotes, coins and photos.

The facade shines brilliantly in white and imperial yellow.

The church, which was donated by Jörg von Waldeck around 1500 on the basis of a vow, is again an inviting sight.

Baroque statues almost 400 years old

The restoration has also brought new life to the interior. The delicate ceiling painting in the Gothic cross vault and the fine Schliersee stucco were renovated by experts. The altars were carefully cleaned by hand with sponges and water. The colors of the masterfully crafted baroque statues have been refreshed so that Saints Agatha and Urban and Saint Leonhard, for example, look new despite their venerable age of almost 400 years, as do the angels on the main and side altars.

How well Thanksgiving and consecration of the church fit together in terms of content was made clear right at the beginning by Dean Mannhardt, when he thanked God for the harvest blessing as well as for the church, which is now as new again.

The reading of Paul's letter to the Corinthians also made clear how human work can only flourish with God's help.

Lots of volunteers

In his sermon, Bishop Wolfgang Bischof took up the three-step plant-casting-becoming process. “Everything is feasible?” He asked, recalling the attitude to life that prevailed before the pandemic. Only the coronavirus and the environmental disaster on the Ahr would have clearly shown us our limits and made us aware that we can and should make our contribution to the progress of the world, but that success lies in other hands. The renewal of St. Agatha showed how important solidarity is in crises and in all major projects.

The fact that the restoration of the church has succeeded in such an exemplary manner is the result of a collaboration that companies not only from the Miesbach district have done with great commitment.

In addition to planners, roofers and facade experts were also on duty under the direction of Hans and Marcus Czernik and Hans-Peter Bramböck.

Mayor Jens Zangenfeind and church caretaker Bramböck as well as Gerti Empl from the parish council agreed that it was the work of the many voluntary helpers that led to the excellent result.

A sincere blessings God said Wolfgang Bischof to all involved and donated his blessing in the wonderfully incense-scented church, which is now again available as a worthy space for worship and prayers.
