Siamese twins separated in Peru after six-hour surgery

After a delicate surgical intervention that lasted six hours, some Siamese twins of less than two months of life were separated without complications this Monday, according to the Goyeneche hospital in Arequipa, in Peru, reported through its Facebook account. .

The brothers are Dylan and Neythan, who were born on August 22 in the same hospital, intertwined by tissues in the hip and part of the spine, according to the statement released by the medical center.

More than eight specialists participated in the surgical procedure, which began at 8:30 AM, local time, led by a team of neurosurgeons and anesthesiologists from the Goyeneche hospital.

"This delicate operation was performed with a specialized surgical microscope, which facilitated the detection of tiny nerves and blood vessels," the statement detailed.

Starting at 3 PM local time, the wounds of both babies were closed.
