In the state parliament in Kiel there are often conflicts between Jamaica and the opposition SPD over specific educational issues.

Their education politician Habersaat is now looking ahead and exploring common ground with the Greens and the FDP.

Kiel - From the SPD's point of view, a federal “traffic light” government can trigger a modernization boost for schools in Germany and Schleswig-Holstein.

Education expert Martin Habersaat draws this conclusion from the election manifestos of the SPD, Greens and FDP.

Habersaat told the German Press Agency that there was a willingness to continue investing in schools, renovating buildings and improving digital equipment.

"All potential coalition partners have a sustainable consolidation of the digital pact in their program."

School operations have suffered from Corona.

There is a lot of discussion about the consequences for children and young people.

In the long term, however, there are other problems in Germany's schools that urgently need to be resolved, say education experts ahead of the general election.

Journalists should be heard in the committee of inquiry

A committee of inquiry is supposed to clarify why investigations against the mafia were stopped.

The chief public prosecutor who wrote the decision at the time should provide information on this.

Journalists are also invited.

Because the MPs want to pursue another question.

Baerbock: Save business assets with wealth tax

Annalena Baerbock firmly believes in the need for a wealth tax - but the Chancellor candidate of the Greens also wants to take a step towards the skeptics.

Habersaat not only has the talks in Berlin about a possible joint federal government in mind, but also the state elections in seven months.

The CDU-led Ministry of Education in Kiel currently has no position on the appearance of the "school of the future", he said.

"The SPD parliamentary group is therefore planning a full-day event on November 6th with school developers from the fields of architecture, education and politics."

Like the SPD, the Greens also wanted to expand school social work, Habersaat said.

The FDP wants to give schools more freedom to select and hire the necessary staff for their offers.

Unfortunately, Jamaica recently rejected an SPD initiative for a pact for more social work.

"The traffic light can bring new momentum here."

Habersaat also sees opportunities for compromise for modern forms of learning beyond the 45-minute cycle and an expansion of all-day education.

"A good all-day offer is crucial for equal opportunities," he said.

"With the under-ambitious upper school reform, Minister of Education Karin Prien missed opportunities here," said Habersaat.

Just talking about the expansion of all-day care is by far not enough.

Habersaat is convinced that dual vocational training must play a stronger role again.

The SPD wants the federal, state and school authorities to conclude a pact for vocational schools together with the social partners.

The aim is to modernize the technical equipment and improve security for the next generation of teachers.

Habersaat also sees good points of contact with the Greens and the FDP.

But there is also a disagreement here.

"Vocational training is education and belongs in the education ministry," said Habersaat.

The Ministry of Economics, led by the FDP, is currently responsible.

The SPD politician also sees important similarities in terms of expanding the BAFöG.
