The Belarusian Consulate General in New York City announced that it will close its doors on the 21st of this month at the request of the American authorities.
The TASS news agency quoted the consulate as saying in a statement on its website today: At the request of the American side, the Belarusian Consulate General in New York will suspend its work starting from the 21st of this October, and Belarusian citizens will have to communicate with the country’s embassy in the United States to obtain consular services, noting However, communication with the Consulate after that date will be impossible.
Belarus had called on the United States of America to reduce the number of its embassy staff to five people, after a series of new sanctions imposed by Washington against Minsk.
