The cause of Gabby Petito's death was strangulation, a Wyoming coroner reported Tuesday as police and the FBI continue to search for the young New Yorker's fiancé, Brian Laundrie, who has been missing for weeks.
The 22-year-old woman's body was found Sept. 19 in a Spread Creek camping area in the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Teton County Coroner Brent Blue previously ruled it was a homicide, but the exact cause had not been released until now.
The coroner did not release further details.
Petito and Laundrie were on a road trip across the country in August, recounting their journey on social media.
But the young man returned to his parents' home in North Port, Florida, on September 1 without his fiancée, according to police.
