The GR de Pays Grand Pic Saint-Loup elected the favorite hiking trail of the French

After Normandy and the GR 21 in 2020, make way for Hérault and the Grand Pic Saint-Loup hiking trail (GRP).

This route was elected “Favorite GR for the French 2021” in November 2020 at the end of the fourth edition of the “My Favorite GR” competition organized by the French Hiking Federation.

It was not until Tuesday, October 12 that its president, Brigitte Soulary, presented the trophy to the representatives of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup territory.

Located 30 km north of Montpellier (Hérault), this 245 km long trail was approved by the French Hiking Federation in 2017. The route has four thematic loops of 49 to 73 km from Saint-Martin- de-Londres allowing to discover picturesque villages, prehistoric heritage and exceptional historical sites.

Without major difficulty, this GR culminates in the summit of Pic Saint-Loup, at an altitude of 658 meters, which offers a panorama of the Cévennes and its landscapes of vines, scrubland and causses.

The GRP Grand Saint-Loup collected 21.5% of the 92,000 votes cast and is thus ahead of the seven other candidate routes, as France Bleu recalls.

• 4: GR 509 - Grande Traversée du Jura (Jura): 15,986 votes (16.7%)

• 5:

  GR 30 - Tour of the lakes of Auvergne (Puy-de-Dôme): 13,097 votes (13.7%)

• 6:

  GR 3 - The wild Loire on foot (Loire-Atlantique): 6,915 votes (7.2%)

• 7:

  GR 75 - Les Portes de Paris (Paris): 3,737 votes (3.9%)

• 8:

  GR 145 - Via Francigena (Aisne): 3,078 votes (3.2%).

FFRandonnée will organize the new season of “My favorite GR” in November.

Internet users will be invited to vote online from October 28 to November 17, 2021 on the MonGR.fr site.
