Yesterday (12th) at 8 o'clock in the evening, at a food store on the ground floor of Huafa Building, Ma Hang Chung Road, To Kwa Wan, the person in charge discovered that the main pillar had peeled off concrete and the steel bars were exposed. They were worried about the danger of collapsing, so they immediately called the police for help.
The police arrived at the scene to seal off the periphery of the building to prevent accidents. Some residents left the building with luggage at night, and the Buildings Department engineers later came to the scene to conduct inspections.
I saw this morning that the main pillar of the food store was temporarily reinforced with brackets and enclosed with canvas, and the food store continued to operate.
The person in charge stated that the Buildings Department carried out an inspection last night and said that there was no immediate danger. It is now being handed over to the landlord for repairs. If the repairs affect business, the rent may be withdrawn.
