Val-de-Marne: for the Modem and LREM, it is not yet time for legislative elections, but to prepare for the presidential election

2021-10-12T08:51:39.919Z

The leaders of the two parties, accompanied by Minister Marc Fesneau and parliamentarians were gathered this Monday evening in front of the press

“We must not put the cart before the horse.

This is, more or less, what you will get if you question today an official of the MoDem or LREM on the legislative 2022. The expression was used this Monday evening by Marc Fesneau during a federal meeting of the MoDem, in the stronghold of Plessis-Treviso.

For the Minister responsible for Relations with the French Parliament, also 1st national vice-president of the MoDem, the time has not yet come to plan on this deadline.

"The main stake is the presidential election," he points out.

LREM deputy for the 1st constituency of Val-de-Marne, Frédéric Descrozaille does not say anything else: “Talking about the legislative elections now, it does not make sense, it is much too early, hazardous, irrelevant, a loss of time, believes the parliamentarian, officially only turned to the presidential election.

I will give my all to ensure that Emmanuel Macron is re-elected.

The President of the Republic has so far not announced his candidacy, even if things are moving in this direction.

Maud Petit (MoDem), her counterpart from the 4th district of Val-de-Marne, has the same project.

“Getting in touch with people, listening to them, speaking up and showing what we are doing is a long-term job that we have been carrying out since 2017 and we will continue,” she said.

"Parliamentarians have done their part of the job", greets Marc Fesneau in his own way, for whom "the majority is solid, despite the events it has gone through".

1,300 MoDem 94 members, ten times more at LREM

History does not yet say whether Jean-Jacques Jégou (MoDem), the former senator-mayor of Plessis-Trévise, will beat the pavement during the legislative elections.

But for the presidential election, he is ready: "People realize that a huge job has been done, that he (

Editor's note: Emmanuel Macron

) has done the job and that the country is held".

But what about the forces?

At the helm of MoDem 94, Thomas Maubert sees them expand: “We see a few returning members, people who had moved away from politics and who are getting involved, others who have never been in politics and who join us ”.

In figures, this gives “1,300 members.

We are therefore the first MoDem federation in terms of number of members.

"

LREM's referent in Val-de-Marne, Nabil Benbouha advances larger figures.

“In one year, we went from 12,000 to around 13,000 members,” he says.

We were 7,000 in 2017. We are in good health from an activist point of view.

"

Will LREM and the MoDem act together in the coming months?

There seems to be no doubt today, if we are to believe these various representatives.

"We have been working in this way for a long time in Val-de-Marne," Thomas Maubert recalls, referring in particular to the common lists of the last polls.

We are rather ahead on the subject in Val-de-Marne.
