Actually, the multi-billion dollar rail project Stuttgart 21 should have been in operation for a long time. But years of protests, lawsuits and political disputes slowed the company down again and again. It is now clearly taking shape and is gradually getting closer to its target in 2025. On Tuesday, the first five kilometers of rails were delivered from the Austrian rolling mill, over which trains will travel through tunnels from the then new Stuttgart underground station in a few years.
Stuttgart - According to Deutsche Bahn, the 120-meter-long rails were transported by freight train to Stuttgart-Feuerbach and unloaded at the entrance of the tunnel there.
Later they are to be laid in more than 50 kilometers of tunnels in the Stuttgart basin, which, according to the information, are now almost finished.
The assembly of the rails is scheduled to begin in November.
