The Volkshochschule (vhs) Oberland is starting again and the new program is available.

In the interview, the head of the vhs speaks about the restart after the pandemic.

District - The semester focus is on sustainability with lectures and courses in which the participants learn how this topic can be implemented in everyday life.

But the best thing is that face-to-face courses can take place again.

We talked to vhs head and board member Thomas Mandl (63) what the restart looks like after the corona-related failure.

Mr. Mandl, the adult education center is back with face-to-face events.

Are you happy

Mandl:

Yes, of course.

The adult education center is a meeting place, we bring people together.

And as valuable as online offers are, they cannot replace being together.

People need encounters and personal exchange.

Have the online courses been well received?

Mandl:

They already were.

But now you notice a certain oversaturation in people.

We're in a kind of limbo right now.

In any case, many want to go back to face-to-face courses.

However, the digital offer remains - and that in a very wide range.

Mandl:

The online offer will definitely remain.

In addition, we want to focus more on hybrid events in the future - some in the classroom, some at home.

Everyone can then choose what suits them best.

We have purchased special equipment for this and set up a hybrid room in every vhs center, i.e. in Miesbach, Hausham, Tegernsee and Holzkirchen.

If someone is not sure whether their computer at home meets the technical requirements for participating in an online course ...

Mandl:

... then he'll find help with us.

We have set up good telephone support, which has so far brought everyone online.

And the advice is designed in such a way that you immediately have a sense of achievement.

Nobody needs to be shy about calling us.

For people who want to attend classroom courses again - what rules apply to Corona?

Mandl:

Of course, you cannot participate if you have symptoms of illness.

Otherwise, the 3G rule applies within the buildings and a mask is required in the corridors.

The masks may be removed at the field, provided that a distance of one and a half meters can be maintained.

The program booklet is a bit thinner than usual this year.

Has the supply dwindled?

Mandl:

No, by no means.

We have omitted the detailed description of some of the courses in the program booklet, which is why the booklet is thinner and clearer.

You can quickly find the right course.

The course descriptions can then be found on our homepage.

We also wanted to encourage people to take a look and see the program.

Maybe you will find something that you would otherwise have overlooked.

The interview was conducted by Christine Merk.

In addition to offers on languages, work, health and culture, it also offers a larger range of virtual events and new course formats.

The printed booklet is available at the usual places in the district.
