In the Caritas nursing home St. Anton in Gröbenzell there is currently a kind of admission freeze for external interested parties.

This has to do with the fact that a home in Karlsfeld (Dachau district) is being closed.

Its residents now have priority.

Gröbenzell

- In the Caritas retirement home in St. Anton on Wildmoosstrasse, an important point must currently be taken into account when allocating places. The question of whether a resident of the Caritas home in Karlsfeld, St. Josef, would like to move to Gröbenzell must first be clarified. Only when nobody from the Karlsfelder Heim is interested in moving to Groebenzell can a free space be allocated as is customary.

The reason for this is that the Caritas nursing home in Karlsfeld will be closed in summer 2022.

The facility no longer meets the minimum structural requirements.

The residents there are therefore offered places in other Caritas homes, including in St. Anton.

As part of an information evening, some residents of the Karlsfeld Home have already signaled their interest in moving to Gröbenzell.

This does not seem to be a problem, however, as there are currently some places available in St. Anton, and according to Caritas the waiting list is empty.

Space for 128 seniors

A total of 128 senior citizens can live in Gröbenzell, 120 at the moment.

As a rule, or if a free space is not required for a resident of the Karlsfeld facility, Caritas tries to give preference to senior citizens from Gröbenzell, reports Doris Schneider, managing director of the 27 Caritas nursing homes in and around Munich.

On the one hand, because they have been living in Gröbenzell for a long time, or because relatives.

Often, however, a decision has to be made at very short notice, for example if a senior citizen can no longer be cared for at home after a hospital stay.

"It is a complex system in which the individual case is in the foreground when making a decision," emphasizes Schneider.

No time pressure

She also emphasizes that the Karlsfelder Heim will not be closed until the summer of 2022, so there is no time pressure to accommodate the residents there.

And Caritas offers five facilities in Munich alone and numerous other facilities around Munich, such as the St. Nikolaus home in Munich-Schwabing or the Marienstift in Dachau.

In addition, a completely new home is currently under construction in Germering, which is expected to be available in early 2023.

According to a report by Dachauer Nachrichten, the approximately 70 employees of the St. Josef retirement home will receive adequate follow-up employment in other Caritas facilities.

The need for employees in the Caritas Association is so high that taking on all employees is not a problem.
