At the new industrial park on Bergwerkstrasse in Peiting, things are happening in rapid succession: while the development work is already underway and the zoning plan is entering the home straight, all eight plots have now been assigned.

The municipal council was by no means able to fulfill every request for commercial land.

Peiting

- The Peiting municipal councilors were likely to have smoked their heads after the most recent meeting when they left the Schlossberghalle.

Behind closed doors, the committee had previously pored over the applications received for the eight building sites in the new industrial park on Bergwerkstrasse and decided who should be awarded the contract.

20 companies had thrown their hats in the ring, according to manager Stefan Kort, the majority of those interested came from the town.

What sounds like a difficult task, it was - despite the new award procedure that the municipality had only introduced this year.

New award procedure applied for the first time

For the first time, applicants for a commercial property had to fill out a six-page questionnaire in which a large number of criteria were queried. Companies had to provide information, for example, on how sustainably their company works, how it is in terms of social commitment or what partnerships exist with other companies in the area (we reported). The data basis was the same for all companies, which from the administration's point of view was positive compared to the old procedure, says Kort. It became difficult, of course, when the municipal councils were asked to score the applications based on the criteria. "Of course, the question often arises, where does the two end and where do the three begin," says the manager, describing the problem. So it took some time until all the parcels were taken.

According to Kort, the selected companies will receive the good news by mail in the next few days.

At this point in time, the manager cannot reveal who has been awarded the contract.

You first want to make sure that it will also be notarized.

Before the real estate transactions can take place, the land-use plan procedure must of course first be completed.

But even here you turn onto the home straight.

Objections from the government and the Department of Agriculture

The public part of the municipal council meeting dealt with the comments received on the land use and development plan.

The government of Upper Bavaria, among others, was critical of the fact that it pointed to unused commercial space potential in the zoning plan.

It is therefore not clear why an agricultural area should be converted into commercial building land.

The statement provided the opinion of the administration.

The areas mentioned are out of the question because they are either located in the flood catchment area or are too far away, which makes development too costly.

The Department of Food, Agriculture and Forests also viewed the fact that an agricultural area would be lost as a result of the new industrial park.

However, this did not result in a change in the planning either.

Andreas Barnsteiner (BVP) was concerned about the two wells near the planned industrial park that would be used by the Bavarian dairy industry.

What if the construction work changes the direction of flow of the groundwater and the wells do not supply enough water as a result?

But then Mayor Peter Ostenrieder was able to calm down.

Neither the water management authority nor the government had pointed out such a danger.

No manager apartments in the new industrial park

The committee agreed to follow the proposal of the administration and not to allow operations manager apartments.

Sports and entertainment venues as well as petrol stations should also be left out.

On the other hand, they want to allow investments for church, social and cultural purposes, and the same applies to retail outlets.

Franz Seidel (BVP), however, saw the latter critically.

Retail stores belong in the center of the village, he emphasized.

“The reason there is too bad for me.” Especially since there is enough possible business space in the center with vacant buildings.

The mayor saw it that way too.

The passage is intended for craft businesses that need a sales room, he explained.

In the end, both the land use and the development plan were unanimously approved.

Both are now laid out again.

The aim is to complete the process this year, Kort looks ahead.

The development should also be finished by the beginning of next year.
