Thirteen people were killed in the Philippines and nine others are still missing in floods and landslides caused by torrential rains associated with tropical cyclone Compasso.
Most of the victims died due to landslides and floods in the northern regions of the Philippines and in the southwestern province of Palawan, the Xinhua news agency quoted the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management of the Philippines as saying in a statement. A large amount of money in agricultural areas was estimated at 9.7 million US dollars.
The Philippines, a group of more than 7,600 islands, is hit by about 20 storms or typhoons every year, causing torrential rains and causing landslides.
