Unusual objects are found when a locker is opened at a train station in Rostock.

A little later the police are investigating.

Rostock - Time and again it happens that the useful life of lockers is exceeded and they finally have to be opened.

An employee of Deutsche Bahn * was amazed when she opened an apparently abandoned locker at Warnemünde train station in Rostock on Sunday (10.10.2021).

Because in it she found a blue sack with items of clothing - and a total of 16 paintings.

Where the pictures came from and who they belonged to was initially completely unclear, as reported by the Rostock police.

"The pictures are different works with different motifs", it says in a message.

Still lifes, ship paintings and a religious motif can be seen on it.

Value and provenance of the paintings: completely uncertain, possibly significant works.

The pictures were initially secured and the Deutsche Bahn employee handed the items over to the police at Rostock Central Station.

The federal police also took up the investigation - because a connection with a theft could not be ruled out.

Surprising find at the train station: owner of the painting found

And the investigation quickly came to a conclusion: the pictures belong to a severely disabled man who was on his way to Schwerin on October 6th and was carrying a lot of luggage.

He had put the paintings in the locker because all the luggage was too much for him, as reported by the dpa.

The value of the pictures could also be clarified: They are lithographic prints, as it turned out.

So no originals, no lost art treasure and no crime that has to do with them.

The older man had not picked up his things by Sunday, a spokesman said.

The pictures and the clothes bag were handed over to Deutsche Bahn AG and are waiting to be picked up there.
