Ebersberg - Some firefighters are currently often changing in front of the house during operations, said City Councilor Martin Schechner (CSU) last Tuesday at the presentation of the plans to convert the Oberndorf fire station.

He was not the only one who praised the design by the architectural office Grabe und Grabe, which intends to leave the existing building but to add it.
The extension would create a new garage for larger fire engines and more space for the changing room.
The new part of the building would be added to the south of the existing house, including the upper floor.
An elevator is to be installed and the photovoltaic system is to be preserved.
In the future, you want to heat with a pellet system.

The measures would be a relatively small interference with the existing building, emphasized the architect, who further explained that the Oberndorf fire brigade could remain in operation during the construction period. It was agreed that one had to do more than just the bare minimum. It should be borne in mind today that the space for a third vehicle should be created during construction work, even if there are currently no concrete plans for such a vehicle.
Some councilors expressed skepticism about the planned wooden cladding of the extension: “Will that fit?” The architect gave the all-clear: “Of course you could plaster, but we really want to keep the old building.” A possible cellar in the new building was also discussed because of the topographical location, a hillside property, would be rather complicated to build.
"Only material would be collected there anyway and kept for decades in order to have to dispose of it forty years later," predicted Mayor Uli Proske.

He should know, after all, he himself was a fire brigade commander in Ebersberg for a long time.
"Sensible and functional," praised City Councilor Christoph Münch (SPD), who is also Proskes' successor as commander.
The plans were unanimously approved.
The costs: the architect estimates a gross figure of 1 to 1.2 million euros, but cannot yet put a concrete figure on the effort, as he has not yet received any offers from the individual trades.
City councilor Martin Schedo (CSU), a police officer and responsible for traffic education there, suggested that when converting along the property, think of a sidewalk that, in his opinion, would promote safety in the area.
