BRB: Replacement buses cause frustration in the cold

In any case, rail replacement traffic is usually not subject to amusement tax for passengers.

The frustration is really big if the promised penalties don't even come.

This is what happened in Bad Tölz.

Bad Tölz - Anyone who travels with the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) these days needs patience.

Because Deutsche Bahn is working on the rail network, sections of the route are repeatedly closed and the trains have to be replaced by buses.

The understanding of the passengers is quickly exhausted, however, if there is a serious problem with this rail replacement service (SEV) - as was the case in Tölz at the beginning of the week.

Passengers wait in vain for the bus in the morning - and again in the evening

In a letter to the Tölzer Kurier, Kerstin Ehegartner complains about the “inability” of the BRB.

The reason for their anger: More than 30 passengers had waited in vain for the announced replacement bus on Monday and Tuesday in Bad Tölz at 6.10 a.m.

"When he came at 7 o'clock, of course, the passengers for the next train were already there," writes the woman from Tölz.

"Unfortunately, it was not possible for all passengers to be transported to Schaftlach in this one bus."

The return trip was hardly better.

At 6.45 p.m. she had to wait 45 minutes for the bus in Schaftlach.

Too few buses used in replacement traffic

At the request of the Tölzer Kurier, a BRB spokeswoman asked the commissioned bus company RVO on Tuesday how the breakdowns had come about. The answer: “The bus came from Lenggries and was already so full that there was no more space. That's why he drove straight through to Schaftlach, "says the spokeswoman and admits:" Of course that can't be. "

That's why the BRB organized an additional bus from Wednesday.

Wasn't it a little tightly calculated from the outset to only use one bus in the SEV?

"I agree with you," says the spokeswoman.

However, she also states that precisely at this time, the RVO was “heavily bound in school traffic” and therefore not so many vehicles were available.

In order to help the passengers and to convince themselves that everything is going as smoothly as possible, the spokeswoman also announced the use of "travel guides" of the BRB at the Tölz train station from this Wednesday.

The traffic jam on the Tölzer Flinthöhe also makes rail replacement traffic difficult

In the afternoon and evening, the BRB representative identified another reason for the long waiting time.

“It's because of the traffic situation.” According to her, the buses get stuck in rush hour traffic, especially at the junction on the B472 on the Tölzer Flinthöhe.

When commuting between Lenggries and Schaftlach, the delays would pile up.

"The ten minutes that the train takes from Tölz to Schaftlach simply cannot be stopped on the road." That is taken into account in the bus timetable.

As a rule, however large a buffer is not sufficient for the Tölz traffic jam.

Tölzerin does not accept statements made by the BRB

Kerstin Ehegartner does not accept this declaration.

At 6.45 p.m. there was no more traffic jam on the Flinthöhe, she says.

Rather, it was so “that a bus driver brought passengers from Lenggries and then finished work and therefore drove empty again.

Only at around 7.30 pm a bus appeared again, which then took us to Bad Tölz ”.

The Tölzerin is certain: “I'm not going to drive the SEV any more this week.” As a result, she will be late for work and have problems with her employer.

"Besides, it's really not fun to stand in the cold for so long."
