District - The question arises again and again, currently more and more frequently, but there is no general answer: How much and what kind of development can the landscape tolerate?

According to a press release, all the mayors of the district and some building authorities have now dealt with this question at the invitation of the Miesbacher Kreis architecture forum.

District Administrator Olaf von Löwis opened the meeting in the Holzkirchen Fools Theater and already hinted at the thrust: "Identity over arbitrariness, appreciation of the architectural heritage, but courage to new ideas." District to find its own guideline.

Bayrischzell is not wooden churches, and even within the individual municipalities, a grown town center may need to be treated differently than different locations on the outskirts.

However, there was consensus in the view that the cultural landscape, which is shaped by agriculture, is still shaped by tradition, and this should be preserved for the next generations.

Urban pressure vs. land use

The area of tension in which the town halls move had become clear from the descriptions of the mayors.

Settlement pressure especially in the northern district, hotel projects in the south, energy efficiency, space consumption, interior densification, affordable living space, but also extravagant client requests - there is a lot to get under one roof.

Architekturforum calls for a sensitive approach to the landscape

In addition to sensitivity and mindfulness, the exchange is also important, and this is what the Architecture Forum wants to maintain as an association of architects who are committed to high-quality building and the mayors.

The offer to provide advice and support to the town halls at an early stage was renewed, as was the “promise between the mayors to share experiences in order not to have to reinvent the wheel and to act in a way that is understandable for the citizens”, as stated in the press release is called.

Meetings should take place regularly

The former district architect and forum chairman Werner Pawlovsky finally affirmed the consensus not to forget, despite the need for change, “that our beautiful landscape is a particularly elegant host in which one has to behave structurally well”.

The participants agreed that meetings like this should be repeated on a regular basis.
