Charge: Cursed and attacked an Arab doctor due to his origin at Barzilai Hospital | Israel Today

An indictment was filed against Shimon Ben Gabriel Kalpa, for insulting and assaulting a doctor who refused to release him to his home • The defendant teased him because of his origin: "How are you a doctor? You have to be with your goats"


An indictment was filed today (Wednesday) against Shimon Ben Gabriel Kalpa (36) for assaulting a doctor at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, Tareq Abu Arar.

According to the indictment, the defendant demanded from the complainant that he be released, and in response he replied that he is not the doctor treating him and in a few minutes the relevant doctor for him will arrive.

Immediately afterwards, the defendant started shouting that he knew the director of the hospital, Hezi Levy, and that he knew all the clans in the Negev.

"You do not know who you got involved with. I will slaughter you, I will reckon with you outside."

Defendant added teasing: "You are a racist, how are you a doctor? You have to be with your goats."

Defendant Ben Gabriel Kalpa then approached complainant Abu Arar, threateningly and tried to push him.

After the chain of events at the hospital, Ashkelon police officers arrived at the scene, arrested Ben Gabriel Kalpa


and today, at the end of the investigation, the indictment was filed by Lachish Prosecutors, requesting his detention until the end of the proceedings.

Capt. Toledano Foundation, Ashkelon Station's Investigations and Intelligence Officer: "This is a serious incident in which a public servant was attacked and threatened because of his position and origin.

Upon receiving the report, we acted to arrest the suspect while exhausting an investigation and removing him from the public sphere. "
