The maximum solution costs over 400,000 euros: Even if the price for a future Gräfelfinger Dirtpark surprised many a local council in the committee for social affairs, school, cultural and sports matters, the committee unanimously voted in favor of the project on Tuesday.

A dirt jump course over 290 meters long with three parallel table lines, routes with mounds of earth and ramps is to be built on an area of almost 3750 square meters. The small table line consists of four jumping obstacles, the middle one of six and the large jumping line of six special dirt jump ramps, a curve, a trick jump as well as various pumps and push waves to ensure the rhythm of the ride. This route is intended for advanced riders. In addition to the three lines, a water-bound underground pump track designed especially for beginners is planned on an area of 850 square meters. The mounds of earth already present on the property can be integrated. For substructure, top layers,Septic tanks, topsoil, embankments and green areas, ramps and safety signs incur a total of 408,000 euros. The ramps alone amount to 156,000 euros. But you can take them with you if the dirt park has to be relocated because the reason for the targeted relief road is required.
“Is it also a bit smaller?” Asked Mayor Peter Köstler, but emphasized that he was “still positive about the project”.
Günter Roll (BVGL) said: "For the fact that it was said at the beginning: We pour a few piles of earth, 400,000 euros are a lot of money." Specht advised against slimming down the dirt park significantly: "We need a bike park that is consistent in order to achieve acceptance among users.

Safety-related acceptance by TÜV
The question of liability was more important to the committee members than the costs. “After completion, a TÜV inspector comes for a safety-related acceptance in the standard children's playground. Then you are completely out of liability, ”says Specht. "The system is designed in such a way that if a fall happens there, you have overestimated your driving skills."
Specht was unable to dispel the concern of attracting mountain bikers and BMX riders from further afield: “There is a community and they visit the best parks.” Roland Strecker, responsible for the project in the building department, said in an interview with Merkur: “We do not want to attract people from 100 kilometers away. ”The committee had shown what is generally possible, now it is time to fine-tune the planning. If you compare a dirt park with a ski area, according to Strecker, "I think that in Graefelfing a young ski area with blue and red slopes is enough". If the park is extremely well received, “the black run can still come in five years”.
What is certain is that the originally planned location at the end of Seeholzenstrasse is not suitable.
Work on a larger commercial building will soon begin in the vicinity.
Strecker: “We don't want any young cyclists who have trucks driving every minute for the next two years.” So the dirt park has to slide further north towards the autobahn.
