An 89-year-old woman was killed by two Amstaff dogs after she accidentally entered the courtyard of a house in a confused state.
It happened last night in Sassuolo (Modena).
The Resto del Carlino reports it.
The victim, Carla Gorzanelli, lost her life a few meters from her home from where she seems to have left, eluding the caregiver's surveillance.
The mobile police squad, the carabinieri and the forensics intervened, in addition to 118 even though the old woman was already dead on arrival.
The attack took place in front of a little girl, who was in front of the gate of the villa waiting for her mother.
According to a first reconstruction, the same child would have said to the old woman "What are you doing here".
The two dogs, it is assumed, could have attacked Carla Gorzanelli for protective instinct towards the child.
The old woman's son also arrived at the scene of the tragedy, who was looking for his mother who had moved away from home: "She had never left the house, I don't know how it could have happened", her words.
The forensic police and the coroner are also at work in the villa in Sassuolo.
Some answers to questions about the dynamics of what happened could come from the villa's video surveillance cameras.
