With his 33rd goal in the national uniform, Eran Zehavi became the all-time top scorer of the Israeli team yesterday (Tuesday).
Zehavi overtook Motlé Spiegler, who finished his career with 32 international goals, and celebrated with his hand raised - as a tribute to Spiegler's famous goal celebration at the 1970 Mexico World Cup, against Sweden.
"Records are destined to break," Zahavi wrote this morning on his Instagram account.
"What a motel Spiegler man. The smile and paragon from his heart dog is amazing, and I could give him back a little with his celebration from the only goal he ever scored in the World Cup! Thank you all for the paragon and congratulations, love you guys."

Spiegler held the record for 48 years when his 32nd and final goal was against Thailand in May 1973. Zahavi, with a beautiful off-field goal against Moldova, reached 33 goals in 69 games for the team, scoring 27 goals in the last 29 games.
Before that, and of course before the incident of throwing the captain's armband and returning to the team, he scored only six goals in 39 games.
The star's impressive achievements include a hat-trick in four different games.

After the game, Zehavi said: "The biggest thing in my career was to return to the team. I stay here as long as I feel good and they want me. When I feel I have nothing to contribute - I will turn the stage for young people."
The striker added: "If they had told me that I would pass Motlé Spiegler in the table of the king of goals, I would not believe, certainly not after everything I went through. Motlé is a football legend, you see the paragon. He sent me messages even before the game "Today and before the previous games, it was clear to him and he really praised me. It is a great honor that he was here to see it."
