The Erfurt Zoo mourns the loss of the female spoon, Juba.
The 13-year-old bitch was put to sleep after attempts at therapy did not bring the hoped-for success.
According to the zoo on Wednesday, Juba had been having trouble eating and swallowing for several weeks.
When she was just five months old, she was the first female spoon to move into the Erfurt Löwensavanne.
